About the role

The Sales and Marketing Director is responsible for driving worldwide revenue growth, shaping global sales strategy, and leading a high-performing international sales team. This role will oversee all aspects of international sales, including orderbook expansion, account management, bidding and sales performance. The successful candidate will build and implement a scalable, data-driven international sales organisation aligned with the company’s strategic objectives. They will identify and prioritise new markets, channels, and customer segments whilst nurturing and growing existing markets. They will be responsible for all bidding and tendering activities ensuring competitor analysis, key win themes and price to win strategies are clearly developed and understood.

From a Marketing perspective, the individual will be accountable for developing and executing an international marketing and communications strategy that spans all Defence product lines. They will work closely with the Senior Leadership team to align the sales and marketing strategy with overall business goals. They will develop enduring relationships with military clients and industry partners.

Person specification

Knowledge, experience and skills required:

  • In depth knowledge of the defence market.
  • An understanding of Defence procurement rules, cycles and models.
  • Track record of managing a successful international defence Sales portfolio.
  • Proven record of achieving or succeeding monthly and annual order intake targets.
  • Experience of building and developing a team within an international matrix organisation.
  • Knowledge of sales processes including tenders and bids in a high value, complex technical sales environment.
  • Proven experience in account management and relationship building.
  • Expert in Marketing and Communications strategy and execution.
  • High level of commercial acumen and fluency.
  • Highly developed ability to negotiate at a senior level internally and externally.
  • First class communication and influencing skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, occasionally at short notice.
  • Able to hold security clearance.
