Position Overview
The Chief Finance and People Officer (CFPO) will be a key member of the leadership team and will be responsible for overseeing financial and HR functions. This dual-role position requires a highly analytical and strategic thinker with strong people management skills and the ability to foster a positive organisational culture.
The CFPO will ensure the organisation\’s financial health while developing and implementing HR strategies that are aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage accounting, invoicing and reconciliation, ensuring timely payments.
- Ensure effective cash flow and balance sheet management.
- Coordinate external advisors, including tax, audit, legal, and regulatory professionals, to achieve high-quality outcomes.
- Oversee payroll processes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and alignment with third-party providers.
- Develop financial strategies to support organisational growth and stability.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior leadership and the board.
- Support financial planning for capital and funding events.
- Experience with company secretarial duties, including coordinating board meetings, statutory filings, and compliance with Companies House.
Human Resources Responsibilities
- Manage recruitment and onboarding to ensure a smooth transition for new employees.
- Oversee employee relations, handling disputes and grievances.
- Develop and implement HR policies to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage performance appraisal systems that drive high performance.
- Provide support and guidance to leadership on HR-related matters.
Ideal Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA) with 10 years\’ post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience in a similar dual-role capacity within a start-up or scale-up environment.
- Strong financial acumen with a solid understanding of financial management and accounting principles.
- Excellent leadership and strategic thinking skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in financial software and HRIS systems.
