Electronics Development Engineer

Electronics Engineer / Development Engineer / Electronics Development Engineer to join a manufacturer based in Towcester, Northamptonshire.

Location: Towcester

Salary: £45,000- £55,000 DOE plus excellent benefits including 25 days + Bank Holidays, Healthcare, Bonus, Pension, Death benefit and Income protection.

Working Hours:

  1. 35 hours a week, early finish Friday
  2. Monday- Thursday: 8am-4pm, Friday: 8am-1pm
  3. Or
  4. Monday- Thursday: 9am-5pm, Friday: 9am-2pm

The role:

To be responsible for the design, development, and testing of new electronic assemblies that would be integrated into a mechanical package.

Job Responsibilities include:

  1. Development and Innovation – taking on responsibility for the electronic aspect of product developments, working closely with the mechanical development engineer to ensure that it fits within spatial constraints.
  2. PCB design/layout and producing the necessary associative documentation for manufacture.
  3. Sourcing/producing and testing prototypes where necessary.
  4. Develop and test prototypes in accordance with applicable EMC legislation at our client’s in-house pre-compliance testing facility.
  5. Identify and recommend product improvements based on cost optimisation/technical performance.
  6. Leading the qualification, test, and requirements management aspects of physical design, including a variety of EMC standards.
  7. Carrying out feasibility studies for new technical innovations.
  8. Report writing of any internal testing completed for review.

Ideal Key Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  2. Experience in both analogue and digital electronics hardware design.
  3. Experience with bringing products to market from concepts (i.e., full product life cycle).
  4. Experience/understanding of design for EMC compliance and testing.
  5. Knowledge of CAN bus networks – particularly SAE J1939.
  6. Self-motivated to work with minimal supervision on multiple, simultaneous projects at any one time.
  7. Computer literate (Microsoft Office/365/Teams/ERP systems).
  8. Excellent communication skills, with a high level of literacy (written and oral).
