About us

Fuzzy Labs is a fast-growing, Manchester-based tech consultancy that helps a diverse range of clients productionise machine learning using Open Source MLOps. We exist to help our customers harness and channel the power of AI safely and effectively, to make positive change and use AI for good. Our work sits across the whole development lifecycle, from prototyping new machine learning models to building scalable and secure production ML systems, and everything in between. Our work spans disruptive startups, multi-national organisations, policing, and secure government sectors. We’ve had considerable growth over the last few years and we’re looking to continue with this momentum as we build on our reputation as Open Source MLOps experts, expand our role within the community, and continue to deliver high-quality solutions to our clients.

What we’re looking for

Someone to own hiring end to end and to help us build the team we need to grow. This will include sourcing candidates, running the process from briefing to offer, keeping everyone informed and every role on track. You'll make sure candidates have a great experience through hiring and onboarding, and provide the day-to-day people ops support that keeps the team running smoothly. This is a part-time role that reports to our Head of Operations, and we anticipate about 21-28 hours per week. There will be flexibility in how the hours are distributed across the week.

You’ll also enjoy being part of a culture that values:

  • Loving what we do: we’re passionate about what we do and take pride in our work.
  • Just trying it: we love to develop new skills, solve new problems and thrive on a challenge.
  • Being greater than the sum of parts: we are a team, one that isn’t just us but our customers and our community.
  • Positive impact: AI is going to change the world. We choose to use it for good and leave a positive legacy.

A typical day

Most of your time will be spent on hiring. We’re aiming to bring on one or two new people each month so you'll be speaking to candidates, working with hiring managers to agree an approach, and moving people through the process from first conversation to signing a contract. You'll be working with colleagues across the company every day. The rest of the role is supporting people operations: welcoming new colleagues, and the everyday things that keep the team running smoothly.

Hiring

  • Work with hiring managers to understand role requirements and agree a hiring approach for each role.
  • Directly source candidates and manage the candidate pipeline; manage adverts on third-party platforms.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with external recruitment agencies.
  • Manage the interview process, including application feedback, scheduling interviews, interview feedback and issue of job offers and contracts.
  • Provide reports and updates on hiring progress and hiring KPIs.
  • Make recommendations to improve the hiring process and onboarding experience.

People Operations

  • Manage the new employee onboarding process, from hiring to day one, ensuring a smooth and positive experience for new employees.
  • Manage regular team surveys and feedback mechanisms (including exit interviews and scheduling probation reviews).
  • Manage day-to-day people processes, systems and record-keeping (in CharlieHR).
  • Support with the roll-out of updates to the company handbook, L&D plan and company policies.
  • Work with the Head of Operations and Fractional CPO to develop and implement effective people processes and systems.

Skills and Experience

The skills and experience we’re looking for include:

  • End-to-end recruitment, owning roles from brief to offer, ideally with experience recruiting technical roles.
  • Experience with direct outreach and sourcing candidates.
  • Proven organisation and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Stakeholder management and collaboration.
  • Confidentiality and discretion.
  • People operations experience is preferable, including day-to-day people processes, record-keeping and onboarding.

By joining a growing company you’ll have the chance to make a real impact on its future. There’s plenty of room for growth and we’ll work with you to help you realise your ambitions.

25 days holiday rising to 30 with each year of service. Enhanced family leave, including maternity, paternity and adoption leave. £500 annual personal development budget and AI assistant of your choice. Location and Eligibility

As a hybrid-working organisation, we bring the team together in the office three days each week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and work remotely on the remaining days. We have found that regular, structured time in person enables us to make decisions more quickly, collaborate more effectively, and build the strong working relationships that underpin our work. Since this is a part-time role, we'll agree a working pattern with you during the hiring process, and this will include regular time in our central Manchester office with the team.
