Job Summary: Huawei R&D UK is now recruiting Consultants in the field of AI & Indoor Positioning. The positions are open in its Edinburgh Research Centre. The team you will be joining is systems-focused, so we are looking for engineering-minded researchers with a focus on building software to address current challenges for smartphone users. The successful candidates will hold relevant research contribution or engineering background and be able to undertake research and engineering work in data and AI system components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Systems research and development on GNSS alternative navigation systems for pedestrians or vehicles.
- Geospatial data analysis utilising features recognition, clustering, classification and dimensionality reduction in a multi-dimensional trajectory.
- Support the development of key technical components for the next generation localisation and positioning systems on Huawei’s products.
- Support the realisation of cooperative SLAM and data driven AI for handheld devices.
- Unleash the full potential of geospatial data modelling for indoors.
- Realise and procure innovations for the future development of positioning and navigation technologies.
- Cooperation with the academic partners and field experts in Edinburgh and the UK.

Person Specification:
Required: Sensors fusion, Signal processing, SLAM, Machine Learning. Researching/engineering experience in at least one of the following: Excellent data science tech stack, such as Python, PyTorch and Pandas data frame. Ability to pick up and progress new cutting-edge technologies in literature. Commercial R&D experience or relevant publications records.
Desired: PhD in positioning systems, robotics or machine learning related topics; Relevant industry experience delivering innovations and R&D projects in activity recognition, deep learning or robotics. Contributions to open-source projects navigation systems, autonomous driving or geospatial data science. Some exposure to computer vision and augmented reality research & development.
