As Head of Academic Staff Development, you will be the primary contact for stakeholders throughout the business as we focus on developing our academic staff. Updated organisational policies, our bid for OfS registration, and stringent industry regulations make this role pivotal to raising and maintaining the standard of delivery.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining departmental processes and expected to lead by example: demonstrating a commitment to yours and the team’s development, maintaining expertise in the evolving digital learning and teaching landscape, and employing exemplary organisational and project management skills.

Manage the Academic Staff Development Team workflow day-to-day, using a proactive, agile approach and appropriate project management tools.

Work as part of the Academic Staff Development Team to create training materials that meet the expected high standards.

Continually monitor and review team output to optimise internal processes and ensure the efficient running of the department.

Employ robust data gathering and reporting strategies to exemplify the work of the department and ensure transparency across the lifecycle of all projects.

Liaise with academic leadership at all levels, and other relevant stakeholders, to develop innovative academic staff development initiatives, deliver high quality content and plan impactful delivery schedules.

Collaborate and lead on the improvement and sustained high standard of ongoing academic staff development programmes, ensuring timely delivery and meaningful staff engagement.

Line manage Academic Staff Development Team members.

Experience required:

Essential:

Expertise in pedagogies and education philosophies

Proficiency in developments / current trends in education technology and digital pedagogy scholarship

Adept at using Microsoft 365 suite and project management apps.

Desirable:

Advanced knowledge of project management tools

Proficiency in data analysis and reporting

Practical knowledge of content authoring software (e.g. Articulate 360)

Familiarity with OfS registration and its requirements
