We are recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing organisation seeking an experienced Site Engineer with a strong background in power distribution networks and high voltage (HV) equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable professional who enjoys working on complex infrastructure projects, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of electrical installation, maintenance, commissioning, and upgrade works. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting project delivery across HV electrical systems, ensuring all site activities are completed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate site activities relating to power distribution and high voltage electrical infrastructure projects.
- Supervise the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of HV equipment, switchgear, substations, protection systems, and associated electrical assets.
- Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, drawings, technical standards, and industry regulations.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and quality checks to verify compliance and workmanship standards.
- Liaise with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and engineering teams to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Review and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and construction documentation.
- Support commissioning activities, fault finding, and troubleshooting of HV distribution systems.
- Experience managing contractors and coordinating multi-disciplinary site teams.
- Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Skills and Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) experience.
- Electrical commissioning experience within HV environments.
- SMSTS, SSSTS, or equivalent site management qualifications.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or other health and safety certifications.
- Experience working within utility, renewable energy, industrial, or critical infrastructure sectors.
