We are recruiting for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join a fast moving manufacturing business where reliability, quality, and efficiency are critical to daily operations. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong mechanical assembly and fitting experience who can work from engineering drawings, support production targets, and help maintain high standards of safety and workmanship in a busy factory environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assemble, fit, and install mechanical components, machinery, and production equipment to specification.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical instructions to complete builds accurately.
- Carry out mechanical repairs, adjustments, and fault finding to minimise downtime and keep production moving.
- Support planned maintenance, machine changeovers, and equipment improvement activities across the manufacturing operation.
- Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and workshop machinery safely and effectively.
- Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve mechanical issues quickly and efficiently.
- Ensure all work is completed to quality standards, within agreed timescales, and in line with health and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate job records, report parts or tooling requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience in a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembler, Maintenance Fitter, or similar manufacturing role.
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience of assembly, fitting, maintenance, and fault finding.
- Comfortable working in a fast paced manufacturing or production environment with changing priorities.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe systems of work.
- Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent engineering qualification would be advantageous.
