Our client, an SME electronics business, seeks to appoint an Engineering Director to oversee their design team. You must have ten years design engineer experience, be fully proficient with modern electronic manufacturing methodology, and have a minimum of five years management / senior leadership experience. Managing a team of design engineers alongside wider operational inputs, the appointed Engineering Director will manage multiple projects, delivering on time and on budget design work, ensuring all customer deadlines are met.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Day to day management of a team of electronic design engineers
- Overall responsibility for delivery of multiple design projects to meet business requirements
- Liaise with sales team over available resource and existing pipelines of work
- Technical authority for customer queries on quality and timescale
- Settle internal design team conflicts on the best route forward for specific projects
- Commercially astute to balance available resource to best deliver against budgeted work
Skills & Experience:
- HND/Degree in electronic engineering or equivalent
- Familiar with PCB software and other software packages
- Prior experience of managing design teams, including recent graduates requiring a large degree of support and lead design engineers with years of experience
- Prior experience of hands on design work. Able to quickly interpret a clients requirements and translate this into a specification for a member(s) of your team
