An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineer to join a well-established, highly automated manufacturing business based around Burton upon Trent. The company is currently experiencing an impressive period of growth and investment, creating an opportunity for a Project Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of engineering and capital projects across a busy manufacturing site.

The Role

  • Working closely with Engineering, Operations and wider site teams, you will take ownership of engineering projects from initial concept through to installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Key responsibilities will include:
    • Managing engineering and capital projects from concept through to completion.
    • Supporting the introduction and installation of new manufacturing equipment and technology.
    • Developing project scopes, specifications, timelines and budgets.
    • Coordinating contractors, suppliers and internal engineering teams.
    • Managing project costs and ensuring delivery against agreed timescales.
    • Supporting equipment installation, commissioning, validation and handover.
    • Identifying opportunities to improve automation, reliability, efficiency and site performance.
    • Ensuring projects are delivered in line with relevant Health & Safety and engineering standards.
    • Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Operations, Quality and other key stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer with a background in a manufacturing, production or engineering-led environment. Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience delivering engineering or CAPEX projects within manufacturing.
  • Experience working with automated production equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working with equipment suppliers, contractors and OEMs.
  • Knowledge of equipment installation, commissioning and continuous improvement.
  • A recognised engineering qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Automation or a related discipline.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
