An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineer to join a well-established, highly automated manufacturing business based around Burton upon Trent. The company is currently experiencing an impressive period of growth and investment, creating an opportunity for a Project Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of engineering and capital projects across a busy manufacturing site.
The Role
- Working closely with Engineering, Operations and wider site teams, you will take ownership of engineering projects from initial concept through to installation, commissioning and handover.
- Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing engineering and capital projects from concept through to completion.
- Supporting the introduction and installation of new manufacturing equipment and technology.
- Developing project scopes, specifications, timelines and budgets.
- Coordinating contractors, suppliers and internal engineering teams.
- Managing project costs and ensuring delivery against agreed timescales.
- Supporting equipment installation, commissioning, validation and handover.
- Identifying opportunities to improve automation, reliability, efficiency and site performance.
- Ensuring projects are delivered in line with relevant Health & Safety and engineering standards.
- Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Operations, Quality and other key stakeholders.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer with a background in a manufacturing, production or engineering-led environment. Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience delivering engineering or CAPEX projects within manufacturing.
- Experience working with automated production equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working with equipment suppliers, contractors and OEMs.
- Knowledge of equipment installation, commissioning and continuous improvement.
- A recognised engineering qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Automation or a related discipline.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
