Controls Systems Manager

Wakefield | £60,000 + Bonus | Monday to Friday

Are you an experienced Controls Systems professional looking for your next challenge?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading food manufacturing business in the Wakefield area.

Due to internal growth and a wealth of investment across the site, we are now looking to appoint a Controls Systems Manager to strengthen the engineering team and help drive the business forward.

As Controls Systems Manager, you will:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of site control systems and automation.
  • Ensure PLCs, SCADA systems, and HMIs are effectively maintained and optimised.
  • Support ongoing site investment projects and play a key role in modernisation initiatives.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Technical teams to minimise downtime and improve plant reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement in control systems to support operational excellence.
  • Manage external contractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with site and industry standards.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience working in aControls/Automation role within manufacturing (food/FMCG experience is desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming and fault finding (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar).
  • Experience leading projects and working with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
  • The ability to manage contractors and liaise with suppliers effectively.
