We are recruiting for an experienced and commercially minded Head of Quality to join a leading organisation operating within the power distribution and electrical infrastructure sector. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving quality performance across the entire operational lifecycle from shop floor manufacturing and assembly through to installation, commissioning, and customer handover. The successful candidate will lead the development and execution of robust quality strategies while embedding a strong culture of continuous improvement across manufacturing and field operations. This role requires a hands-on leader with proven experience within the power distribution industry and a strong track record implementing CI methodologies and operational excellence initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the company-wide quality function across manufacturing, installation, and project delivery operations.
- Develop and implement quality strategies aligned with business objectives, customer requirements, and industry standards.
- Drive continuous improvement (CI) initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or equivalent methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications across all operations.
- Support the shop floor with proactive quality leadership, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process optimisation.
- Oversee supplier quality management and work collaboratively with procurement and operations teams to improve supplier performance.
- Establish KPI reporting frameworks to monitor quality performance, non-conformances, customer complaints, and operational improvements.
- Lead internal and external audits, ensuring successful outcomes and ongoing compliance.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, production, installation, and project teams to ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and mentor quality teams, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
- Drive customer-focused quality improvements and support resolution of field-based quality issues during installation and commissioning phases.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior quality leadership role within the power distribution, electrical engineering, switchgear, transformers, or related infrastructure sector.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing quality processes alongside installation and site-based quality management.
- Demonstrable experience implementing and leading Continuous Improvement (CI) strategies across operational environments.
- Excellent knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or equivalent CI methodologies.
- Experience working within ISO 9001 and other relevant quality management systems.
