Manufacturing Futures seek to appoint a Logistics Manager with overall responsibility for a small team of drivers, ensuring excellent customer service is delivered for all clients. Reporting into the Operations Director, the appointed Logistics Manager will objectively review and continually improve the transport operation, a mix of own fleet (majority) and outsourced (occasional) solution. It is important that you are comfortable in a lively environment with a quick pace and frequently changing priorities and that you can balance short term operational needs against achievement of longer term strategic objectives. The appointed Logistics Manager will have good commercial experience alongside being a solid and experienced transport operator.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Continually develop the department in order to provide a quality first class transport service to all customers.
- Proactively motivating the team to achieve planned targets and deadlines by providing guidance and encouragement.
- Ensure the operation achieves on time, accurate delivery, through effective use of the planning/scheduling information available.
- Optimise cost savings and adherence to budget, ensuring transport financial performance is within budget.
- Responsible for the continued development of the Transport Team including performance plans and reviews.
- Liaise closely with other departments, building a detailed understanding of the warehouse and systems function.
Skills and Abilities:
- Five years transport management experience, including experience managing a team.
- Comprehensive and up to date knowledge of transport law and regulations.
- Great working geographical knowledge of the country and the motorway network.
- Familiarity with transport management systems.
