Shift Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Multi-Skilled)

Location: Wakefield

Salary: £52000 to £55000 + Benefits

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off DAY shift

We’re looking for a proactive and skilled Shift Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our fast-paced food manufacturing site. As a key part of our Engineering Team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our production lines run safely, smoothly, and efficiently.

This is a multi-skilled role with a strong focus on electrical maintenance, where you’ll support the site with both planned preventative maintenance and fast, effective breakdown response.

About the Role:

As a Shift Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you’ll work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise machine performance whilst maintaining our high standards for safety, quality, and hygiene.

  • Deliver a timely and effective engineering service to production operations.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities in line with schedules within the CMMS system.
  • Attend, diagnose, and repair electrical and mechanical breakdowns quickly and safely.
  • Report all actions taken and escalate any further work required.
  • Continuously develop engineering systems to eliminate repeat failures and drive performance improvements.
  • Support delivery of KPI targets including waste reduction, efficiency, machine uptime, and OEE.
  • Share knowledge and train others to improve team capability and flexibility.
  • Work collaboratively with all site functions to deliver daily, weekly, and longer-term operational goals.
  • Help foster a positive and proactive working culture through clear communication and consistent behaviours.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Time-served Electrical Maintenance Engineer, ideally multi-skilled.
  • Experience within a food, FMCG, or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of PPM systems and reactive maintenance.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety, food hygiene, and quality standards.
  • Ability to coach and support others within the team.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent).
