Apprentice Technician role within the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. Undertake a structured training programme in Mechanical or Electronics engineering covering equipment, machinery, software, and CAD. Workshop‑based role with potential cross‑department experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Use and care of the working environment: Understand hazards, basic health and safety risks, standard operating procedures, risk assessments and departmental practices.
- Learn and apply basic workshop skills under supervision, progressing to advanced tasks and independent work with appropriate guidance.
- Contribute to projects: Support basic operations, take responsibility for small elements, provide advice to students, and participate in planning and execution.
- Formal training: Attend applicable courses, prepare portfolio of evidence for ongoing assessment and qualification.
- Other duties: Perform additional tasks as required by the Head of Department or nominee.

GCSEs at grade C+ or above (or equivalent) in English, Mathematics and a science‑based subject.
