West Suffolk College is a Further Education college in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. The college delivers a range of courses, including vocational and technical courses, apprenticeships, and an array of higher-apprenticeships and bachelor degree courses accredited by the University of East Anglia. West Suffolk College is one of the country’s leading further education and apprenticeship providers. Our apprenticeship results have consistently remained above the national average. We offer many degrees, HNCs and HNDs at our focused and inclusive University Studies Centre.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching staff, students within student support, and curriculum areas with a wide range of administrative processes associated with the Communications and Administration function.
  • Support the delivery of key events as required by the college throughout the academic year such as parents evenings and Open Events which may be held in the evenings or on the weekend.
  • Assist with arranging educational visits, in accordance with our procedures.
  • Deal with routine enquiries and correspondence from staff, students/stakeholders and other organisations.
  • Reprographics assistance.
  • Assist with key supporting duties around the enrolment and on-boarding of students at the beginning of the academic year.
  • Purchase order processing for curriculum resources.
  • Booking rooms for staff or events.
  • Recording of student absences and checking and chasing daily student registers.
  • Attend continued professional development sessions and training for all Safeguarding requirements, which may be held in the evening.

The above job description is not exhaustive, and the employee may be required to undertake any other reasonable duties in line with the general level of responsibility of the role.

Entry requirements: GCSE Maths and English at grades 4 or above required.

Skills required: Logical Initiative

Training to be provided: The learner will be studying the Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.

Things to consider: As we now operate as a collective Eastern Education Group you may be from time to time required to undertake any of the requirements of your role for any of our Group organisations. There will be career progression opportunities once the apprenticeship has been completed.
