We are recruiting on behalf of an electronics engineering organisation looking to appoint an experienced Principal Electronic Design Engineer to take a leading role across a range of complex engineering projects. This is a senior technical position suited to an experienced electronics engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, coordinating engineering activity and providing technical guidance to other engineers, without necessarily wanting a traditional people-management role. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior or Principal Electronic Design Engineer looking for a role that combines technical engineering knowledge with project ownership, technical leadership and the opportunity to influence how engineering projects are delivered.
The role involves:
- Acting as a key technical point of contact across multiple projects, ensuring electronic and hardware engineering deliverables are completed to the required standards of quality, safety, cost and timescale.
- Project coordination and technical leadership.
- Working closely with engineering colleagues, project managers and other stakeholders to define requirements, plan engineering activities, resolve technical issues and ensure projects progress effectively from concept through design, verification, validation and delivery.
- Supporting and guiding other engineers within the team, providing technical direction, reviewing engineering work and helping less experienced engineers develop their capabilities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating electronic and hardware engineering activity across multiple projects.
- Providing technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams.
- Managing technical project priorities and deliverables.
- Supporting project planning and resource requirements.
- Reviewing designs and technical documentation.
- Ensuring engineering solutions meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Skills required:
- Contributing to the continued development of engineering tools, processes and working practices, helping to improve both the quality and efficiency of engineering delivery.
- A strong background in electronic product design and development, together with experience of taking products or systems through the full engineering lifecycle.
- Previous experience coordinating projects, leading technical work packages or guiding other engineers.
- Comfortable balancing multiple priorities and communicating effectively with engineering, project and commercial stakeholders.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related STEM discipline would be preferred.
