Role Scope
We are looking for a Finance & Commercial Manager to support our UK businesses and provide a strong link into our Group Finance organisation in India.
The role covers three business units operating across engineering and technology services. It requires someone who enjoys being involved in the detail while also being able to support senior managers with budgeting, forecasting, commercial decisions and business planning.
This is not a CFO or Finance Director role, nor is it focused solely on accounting and transaction processing. We are looking for somebody who can understand how the business operates, challenge assumptions when required, and ensure financial information supports effective decision making.
Governance, Compliance and Risk
- Take ownership of UK statutory and regulatory financial compliance activities.
- Liaise with auditors, tax advisers, banking partners and external professional advisers.
- Ensure all UK legal entities meet their reporting and filing obligations.
- Maintain a strong financial control environment across the UK businesses.
- Support the UK leadership team in strengthening financial governance and balance sheet management.
- Assist with activities associated with the Company's ongoing financial recovery and post-CVA position.
- Identify financial, compliance and operational risks and ensure appropriate controls are in place.
Commercial Support
- Work with Business Unit leaders to understand business performance and future opportunities.
- Analysis of business performance, margins and operating costs.
- Production of financial reports for UK management and Group Finance.
- Review project and contract profitability.
- Support preparation of business cases and investment proposals.
- Provide financial input to commercial bids and customer opportunities where required.
- Monitor utilisation, revenue performance and project delivery metrics.
Group Reporting
- Act as the main finance contact between the UK businesses and Group Finance in India.
- Ensure reporting is delivered accurately and on time.
- Support implementation of group financial controls and processes.
- Coordinate responses to requests from corporate finance teams.
Cash and Controls
- Monitor cash flow and working capital performance.
- Support invoicing, debt management and revenue recognition activities.
- Ensure appropriate financial controls are maintained.
- Work with external accountants, auditors and advisors as required.
Systems and Processes
- Identify opportunities to simplify reporting and finance processes.
- Support improvements to financial systems and management information.
- Help establish consistent ways of working across the UK businesses.
Experience and Qualifications
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or equivalent.
- Experience in a Finance Manager, Management Accountant or similar role.
- Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and management accounts.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
- Able to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance colleagues.
- Experience working within a multi-site or multi-entity organisation.
Desirable
- Experience within engineering, automotive, consultancy, technology or professional services businesses.
- Experience working within an international organisation.
- Knowledge of ERP and reporting systems.
- Hands-on with AI tools, PowerBI and MS Dynamics
