We are seeking a knowledgeable and forward-thinking Associate Lecturer in Computing to join our Higher Education Services team. This role focuses on delivering high quality teaching and learning across designated programmes, with particular expertise in Cyber Security and/or Artificial Intelligence. The successful candidate will design and deliver engaging learning materials, facilitate dynamic online learning experiences, support student success, and contribute to academic quality and innovation. There may also be opportunities to contribute as a Subject Matter Expert in developing and reviewing module content.

What Does Success Look Like
  • Teaching and Learning Delivery
    • Design, prepare, and deliver high-quality teaching materials across assigned computing programmes.
    • Ensure all content, delivery methods, and learning resources align with programme and module objectives.
    • Apply effective teaching, learning, and assessment strategies in line with institutional standards.
    • Demonstrate strong digital capability and deliver engaging online learning experiences.
  • Assessment and Feedback
    • Set, mark, and provide constructive, timely feedback on assessments in accordance with institutional and partner policies.
    • Supervise student projects and dissertations, providing academic and research guidance in Cyber Security and/or AI.
    • Monitor student progress using learner analytics and implement timely interventions to support achievement.
  • Learner Support and Engagement
    • Identify and respond to individual learner needs, referring students to appropriate support services when necessary.
    • Promote an inclusive, engaging, and supportive online learning environment.
  • Quality Assurance and Academic Standards
    • Contribute to internal quality assurance and enhancement activities.
    • Participate in the planning and review of modules to ensure alignment with institutional frameworks and academic standards.
    • Maintain accurate records of teaching delivery, student engagement, and academic outcomes.
  • Professional Participation
    • Attend and actively contribute to relevant meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
    • Complete all mandatory institutional training within the first three months of appointment.
  • Subject Matter Expert Responsibilities (where applicable)
    • Develop new module content in Cyber Security and/or AI in line with academic and institutional standards.
    • Review and update existing module materials as required.
What You Bring To The Table
  • A PhD, Master's degree, or substantial industry experience in a relevant computing discipline.
  • Experience teaching and learning within the UK Higher Education sector.
  • Proven subject-specific teaching experience in Cyber Security and/or Artificial Intelligence.
  • Eligibility for Fellowship of AdvanceHE (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and digital teaching skills.
  • A clear commitment to student success and engagement.
Desirable
  • Experience delivering online teaching and learning.
  • Experience supervising research projects or dissertations in computing-related fields.
  • Relevant industry or professional experience in Cyber Security and/or AI.
