Contract Data Modelling Architect (Financial Services) – London (Hybrid) - Outside IR35
Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days per week in-office)

Are you a seasoned data expert with a passion for designing impactful, scalable architecture? We are working with a consultancy, who are partnered with a leading organisation in the Financial Services sector, that is embarking on a major data transformation journey, focused on building robust, future-proofed platforms and delivering meaningful insights across the business. As part of this initiative, they are seeking a Data Modelling Architect to drive the technical design and architecture of key data initiatives. In this role, you will take the lead in shaping complex data ecosystems — from lakes to meshes — and work closely with cross-functional teams in the UK, EU, and Latin America. You will play a pivotal part in translating critical business challenges into high-quality, scalable data solutions, influencing data governance and architecture standards across the enterprise.
What We Are Looking For:
- Proven experience in technical architecture and data leadership
- Strong background in building data lakes, meshes, and pipelines
- Ability to translate business problems into BI, analytics, and ML solutions
- Hands-on experience with AWS data platforms (Glue, S3)
- Knowledge of ETL/ELT, data modeling techniques (Star Schema, Data Vault), and Lakehouse solutions (e.g. Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, non-functional requirements, and data governance
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to mentor junior engineers
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect conceptual and logical data models for FS use cases
- Lead the design of canonical schemas and partition strategies
- Specify and oversee the implementation of scalable ETL/ELT pipelines
- Define and enforce data governance standards and documentation
- Develop reusable playbooks and materials to drive self-service analytics
- Stay ahead of trends in data architecture, performance, and compliance
