Mid-level Product Manager – Startup Studio/consultancy (12-month FTC)

Location: London · Hybrid (2 days/week in the office)

This role sits in a small, smart startup studio/consultancy helping healthcare and fintech clients ship real digital products – from rebrands and re-platforms through to true zero-to-one apps and web experiences.

The company

You’ll be joining a startup studio-style consultancy that partners with high-growth healthcare and fintech businesses on big digital transformation projects. Think: redesigning patient or customer journeys, rebuilding legacy web/app experiences, and creating new products from scratch – always in tight cross-functional teams with design and engineering.

What you’ll be doing

  • You’ll be the Product Manager embedded into client squads, working closely with design and engineering on a mix of short and long-term projects. Typical work might include:
  • Taking products from idea → MVP → iteration for mobile and web.
  • Running discovery: user interviews, mapping journeys, defining problems and opportunities.
  • User stories, backlog management, agile ceremonies.
  • Writing clear user stories, managing backlogs, and keeping delivery flowing in an agile setup.
  • Making trade-offs with engineers and designers, and pushing back when there’s a better way to solve the problem.
  • Working with clients to clarify goals, define success metrics, and keep everyone pointed at outcomes, not just outputs.
  • Testing and learning – from usability testing to small experiments to validate decisions.

Who this is great for

  • You’ll likely recognise yourself in a few of these:
  • Around 3+ years as a Product Manager (or very strong PO), shipping real features in a startup or scaleup environment or small consultancy.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity – vague briefs, evolving requirements, and figuring things out with imperfect information.
  • Solid grounding in agile: backlogs, user stories, acceptance criteria, sprint rituals and working closely with tech and design.
  • Happy talking to customers, digging into problems, and turning insight into clear product decisions.
  • Confident enough to challenge stakeholders and teammates respectfully when something doesn’t make sense.
  • Curious about consultancy/studio work: you want exposure to different products and problem spaces, but in a small, low-ego team rather than a huge corporate machine.

This probably isn’t for you if your experience is purely big enterprise (agency or in-house) and you haven’t had to own product decisions in scrappy, fast-moving environments.

The setup

  • Contract: 12-month fixed-term (maternity cover), strong chance of extending if things go well.
  • Location: London, 2 days per week in the studio; the rest from home.
  • Team: High-calibre, hands-on product, design and engineering team who like to collaborate and share thinking.
  • Exposure: Mix of healthcare and fintech clients, from rebrands and redesigns through to new product builds.

If you’re a mid-level PM in a startup/scaleup who’s been quietly eyeing consultancy work – but put off by the usual bureaucracy – this is a great way to step into that world while still feeling like you’re in a product-led startup.
