Our client has a strong pipeline of development work across the South East and is looking to appoint an Associate Town Planner in Lewes. The role offers direct exposure to developers, landowners and multidisciplinary project teams.

The role
- You will work across residential, rural, commercial, tourism and heritage projects across Sussex.
- Depending on seniority, you will lead or support instructions from initial appraisal to determination and beyond.
- Prepare clear planning appraisals, statements and strategic advice.
- Manage planning applications and coordinate technical inputs.
- Maintain regular, professional communication with clients and project teams.
- Negotiate constructively with local planning authorities and other stakeholders.
- Review work produced by junior colleagues and support their development.
- Contribute to fee proposals, client development and the commercial management of projects.
About you
MRTPI; broad application and appeal experience; practical understanding of the Sussex market. You should also be organised, dependable and able to explain planning issues in straightforward language. The business is interested in people who value good advice and long-term client relationships rather than unnecessary internal politics.
Package and working arrangements
The salary is £49,000–£61,000. The wider package includes flexible working, bonus, pension, subscriptions and route to Associate Director. Exact arrangements will depend on experience and will be discussed openly during the process.
