We are working with a well-established and growing building services contractor delivering high-quality residential developments across the UK. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of new build residential projects, they are looking to appoint an experienced M&E Design Engineer to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a range of housing schemes, apartment developments, and high-rise residential projects, from concept through to completion.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and coordination of mechanical building services systems across residential developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing Mechanical or Electrical systems for new build residential projects
  • Producing detailed calculations (heat loss/gain, ventilation, pipe sizing, plant selection)
  • Preparing drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Working closely with architects, structural engineers and contractors
  • Attending design meetings and supporting projects through construction phases
  • Ensuring compliance with current Building Regulations and British Standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer within building services
  • Strong experience delivering new build residential projects (housing, apartments, high-rise, PRS etc.)
  • Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and residential compliance requirements
  • Experience using design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Hevacomp, IES or MagiCAD
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage workload across multiple projects

Desirable

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
  • Working towards or holding CIBSE membership
  • Experience in sustainable / low-carbon residential design
