We are seeking an experienced Estimating Engineer to join a growing team, specialising in the delivery of innovative and cost-effective power infrastructure solutions. The successful candidate will bring a strong track record in tendering and cost estimation across LV, 11kV, and 33kV networks, particularly in collaboration with ICPs and DNOs.
You will play a key role in supporting the commercial and engineering arms of the business through accurate cost modelling, bid preparation, and coordination across departments to ensure competitive and technically robust project proposals.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for power infrastructure projects (LV, 11kV, 33kV).
- Analyse technical specifications and client requirements to develop viable and cost-effective solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, sales, procurement, and commercial) to gather necessary inputs and ensure alignment of proposals.
- Develop and maintain pricing models and estimation tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Present technical and commercial proposals to internal stakeholders and support bid strategy discussions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in estimation processes, workflows, and documentation standards.
- Contribute to value engineering and risk assessment activities during project development.
- Liaise with external suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and validate cost assumptions.
- Proven experience as an Estimating Engineer or Proposals Engineer in the power infrastructure or utilities sector.
- Strong understanding of LV, 11kV, and 33kV networks, including relevant design, installation, and cost considerations.
- Demonstrated experience working with Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) and Distribution Network Operators (DNOs).
- Proficient in cost modelling, bid preparation, and interpreting technical drawings/specifications.
- Excellent analytical skills with a detail-oriented approach to technical and commercial data.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Experience with estimating software and Excel-based costing tools.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and prioritise in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
