Our client is a fast-growing technology company building next-generation UAV and edge computing platforms for defence, security and commercial markets. As their engineering team scales, they're looking for a UI/UX Engineer to shape how operators, engineers and customers interact with genuinely cutting-edge unmanned systems.
This isn't a "pretty screens" role. You'll be designing and building interfaces for real-time, mission-critical systems β ground control stations, telemetry dashboards, configuration tools β where clarity and usability directly affect how well a platform performs in the field.
What you'll be doing
- Designing and building user interfaces for UAV ground control, telemetry and configuration systems
- Owning the full UX process β research, wireframing, prototyping, testing β alongside hands-on front-end implementation
- Translating complex, data-dense operational information into clear, intuitive interfaces for technical and non-technical users
- Working closely with software, systems and hardware engineers to ensure UI decisions reflect real operational constraints
- Iterating based on user feedback from engineers, operators and customers
- Contributing to and evolving a design system as the product suite grows
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a UI/UX Engineer or Product Designer with front-end build capability (not design-only)
- Strong portfolio showing end-to-end UX process, not just visual polish
- Comfortable designing for complex, data-heavy or real-time systems
- Solid front-end skills (React or equivalent) to prototype and ship your own designs
- Confidence collaborating directly with engineers on a fast-moving product roadmap
- Genuine ownership of UX/UI across a growing product suite, not a single feature
- Work on technology that's shaping the future of unmanned systems
- 30 days' annual leave plus bank holidays β a genuinely generous allowance
- Private medical cover on completion of probation
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Pension
- Further benefits in development, to be confirmed shortly
