We are building a new UK-based communications engineering team to support advanced unmanned and autonomous platforms operating in complex defence environments. This role focuses on developing robust, resilient navigation solutions for aircraft operating where satellite navigation is unavailable or unreliable. You’ll work on algorithm-heavy, systems-level navigation engineering, fusing multiple sensor inputs to deliver accurate positioning, situational awareness, and route planning in contested environments. This is an opportunity to work on new-to-market aerospace platforms in a fast-growing, mission-led environment.
What you’ll do:
- You will design, develop, and integrate advanced navigation solutions for unmanned aircraft, working closely with systems, control, and autonomy teams.
- Develop navigation solutions for GNSS-denied / no-GPS environments.
- Design and implement navigation and sensor fusion approaches.
- Fuse data from multiple sensors (e.g. visual, inertial, alternative sources).
- Develop model-based navigation algorithms.
- Support route planning into and out of contested environments.
- Improve situational awareness through robust navigation strategies.
- Work with senior engineers to define and integrate alternative navigation inputs.
What you’ll bring:
- Background in navigation, guidance, or autonomy engineering.
- Experience developing navigation or sensor fusion algorithms.
- Understanding of IMU-based navigation, drift, and error handling.
- Experience with visual or alternative navigation techniques.
- Strong algorithm-focused, systems-level engineering mindset.
- Experience with UAS / UAV or autonomous platforms desirable.
What’s on Offer:
- A chance to shape an entirely new engineering capability and influence the future of aerospace design.
- Competitive salary, based on experience.
- Up to 10% matched pension contribution.
- Private medical insurance.
- Performance-related bonus.
