DevOps Engineer (GCP) – Industry leading SaaS platform – Remote Based (UK)
Salary – £70,000
Location – South West UK – Once a month on site
We are embarking on a strategic initiative to migrate a substantial an application estate from on-premise infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). As part of this journey, we’re looking for a skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer to lead the migration and help shape the future of our cloud infrastructure.
This is a hands-on role that combines technical leadership with engineering execution. You’ll be instrumental in leveraging GCP-native services, like managed databases, networking, and cloud storage, to ensure a smooth and secure migration. Once completed, your focus will expand to supporting development and QA teams through enhanced DevOps practices including CI/CD, cloud provisioning, monitoring, automation, and containerisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the the migration of a legacy .NET system from on-prem infrastructure to GCP.
- Design and provision cloud-native infrastructure using GCP services and automation tools.
- Collaborate across teams to streamline development-to-production workflows.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions.
- Monitor and optimise infrastructure performance, security, and reliability.
- Implement system decoupling strategies and container orchestration solutions.
- Ensure consistent environments across development, staging, and production.
- Explore and adopt technologies that improve platform scalability and developer experience.
- Develop alerting systems and maintain clear operational documentation.
- Engage in training and development as needed to support your role.
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly GCP (AWS also considered).
- Comfortable managing Linux and/or Windows environments.
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
Desirable Skills
- Experience with container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker Swarm).
