Lead Software Engineer (Front End – React.js / Typescript) – Bath (Hybrid) – E-commerce

Salary – £65,000 / £70,000 + Bonus

Location – Bath/Hybrid

We’re seeking a Lead Front-End Engineer to guide a small team, champion technical excellence, and support their professional growth. You’ll collaborate across disciplines to deliver outstanding digital work, combining hands-on problem solving with strategic thinking, and continuously improving how the team operates.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Front End engineers (remaining hands on)
• Shape technical approaches across projects
• Improve processes and ways of working
• Contribute to planning, estimation, pitches, and RFPs
• Participate in client workshops and hiring
• Collaborate with senior leaders on team direction

What You’ll Bring

• Strong technical leadership and mentoring experience
• Deep expertise in ES6+, React, JavaScript, TypeScript
• Experience in fast-paced delivery environments
• Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking
• Accessibility best practice knowledge
• Familiarity with Agile, Git, testing practices, and API integrations
• A passion for learning, collaboration, and modern web technologies

Nice to Have

• Experience with React Native, Node.js, GraphQL
