We are building a new UK-based communications engineering team to support advanced unmanned and autonomous platforms operating in complex defence environments.

This role is focused on flight stability and stabilisation systems for small to light aircraft. It is primarily algorithm- and software-driven, rather than hardware design, and centres on ensuring aircraft and payloads (such as cameras and gimbals) remain stable and effective throughout flight. This is a strong opportunity to work on new-to-market aerospace platforms within a fast-growing, mission-led engineering environment.

What you’ll do:

  • You will design, develop, and integrate control and stabilisation systems for unmanned aircraft, working closely with flight systems, software, and platform engineering teams.
  • Design and refine autopilot and stabilisation systems.
  • Develop control algorithms to ensure in-air flight stability.
  • Work on flight control logic for small to light aircraft.
  • Develop stabilisation solutions for gimbals and camera systems.
  • Determine orientation and calculate corrective control actions.
  • Integrate control systems across motors, sensors, cameras, and aircraft platforms.
  • Support stability and control across airborne systems.

What you’ll bring:

  • Background in control systems engineering (algorithm-focused).
  • Experience with flight stabilisation, control logic, or autopilot systems.
  • Understanding of motors, sensors, cameras, and control integration.
  • Experience working on airborne or autonomous platforms.
  • Systems-level mindset with strong software and control integration experience.

What’s on Offer:

  • A chance to shape an entirely new engineering capability and influence the future of aerospace design.
  • Competitive salary, based on experience.
  • Up to 10% matched pension contribution.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Performance-related bonus.
