We are supporting an advanced autonomy and drone technology business developing highly sophisticated UAS platforms designed to transform how critical infrastructure is monitored and surveyed.
As the company continues to scale, they are looking to hire a Senior UAS / UAV Technician to support avionics integration, flight testing, system evaluation, and ongoing platform development. This is a hands-on, all-rounder technical role reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, with significant scope to take ownership, help shape processes, and support the ongoing evolution of a market-leading autonomy platform.
What you'll be doing:
- Support the integration, assembly, and testing of advanced UAS / UAV platforms
- Own flight testing, system evaluation, and technical troubleshooting activities
- Build and modify wiring harnesses, connectors, and avionics systems
- Carry out soldering, bench testing, diagnostics, and electrical integration work
- Support payload integration including sensors, LiDAR, thermal imaging, and mission systems
- Assist with system validation before handover to flight operations teams
- Work closely with engineering teams on prototype and production builds
- Help improve internal processes, documentation, and testing capability as the business grows
What we're looking for:
- Previous hands-on experience working on UAV, aerospace, robotics, avionics, or complex electro-mechanical systems
- Strong electronics fundamentals including soldering, wiring, fault finding, and bench testing
- Experience integrating avionics, sensors, payloads, or mission systems
- Comfortable working in fast-paced R&D or technology development environments
- Proactive mindset with the ability to solve problems independently
Nice to have:
- Experience with UAV autopilot systems such as PX4 or ArduPilot
- Understanding of EMC considerations and avionics integration challenges
- Exposure to Ground Control Station (GCS) software or Mission Planner systems
- Military, RAF, aerospace, or defence background
- Experience supporting flight test and evaluation activities
