Future Skills Training (FST) is a dynamic youth charity based in Wandsworth, London, supporting some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people in our community. Our work focuses on those at risk of exclusion, those with special educational needs (SEN), mental health challenges, or who have fallen through gaps in the education system.
Through alternative education programmes, innovative mentoring and therapeutic support, we help young people develop the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to transform their lives. Our core focus is the development of essential skills (communication, team work, leadership etc), this is supplemented with the teaching of Functional Skills/maths and English.
Role Summary:
As a Trustee of FST, you will help guide the strategic direction of the charity, ensure strong governance, and act as a critical friend to our small but passionate team. You’ll bring your insight, experience, and commitment to help us grow sustainably and increase our impact in the lives of the young people we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend and contribute to quarterly board meetings
- Support the strategic development and long-term vision of the charity
- Ensure financial stability and monitor compliance with legal and regulatory obligations
- Act as an ambassador for FST, promoting our mission and values
- Provide guidance, support and constructive challenge to the CEO and team
We are especially keen to hear from people with experience in any of the following areas:
- Charity governance or legal expertise
- Finance or accounting (ideally with charity sector experience)
- Education, youth work, or SEND
- Marketing, communications, or digital strategy
- HR, safeguarding or lived experience related to our beneficiaries
