We are seeking a Principal First Aider to join our dedicated team at New Line Learning Academy. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment where every student feels supported and valued.
This is a dual role, combining the responsibilities of leading the school’s first aid provision with providing front-line support in Student Services. You will deliver timely and effective medical assistance, ensure the smooth operation of first aid procedures across the school, and assist with day-to-day student queries and wellbeing needs. This role is 25 hours per week, Monday-Friday 9:00am-2:00pm, working term time only (38 weeks per year).
The successful candidate will be calm, compassionate, and organised, with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to the health and wellbeing of our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide immediate and effective first aid to students and staff when required.
- Respond to student illnesses and injuries, arranging for medical support or an ambulance where necessary.
- Lead the school’s first aid provision, ensuring all first aiders are appropriately trained and certified.
- Monitor and maintain first aid supplies and equipment across the school.
- Record and update medical incidents accurately on the school’s MIS (SIMS).
- Liaise with Student Support Managers, Heads of Year, and parents regarding student wellbeing.
- Provide administrative support within Student Services when not attending to first aid needs.
- Support the Health and Safety Officer in investigating and recording accidents or incidents.
The successful candidate will have:
- A compassionate and professional approach to student care.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in a similar role or within an educational setting is desirable.
- A current First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain one).
