Role Description This is a full‑time, on‑site Experienced Youth Mentor role based in Sherborne. The Experienced Youth Mentor will support young people in a farm and countryside setting, building trusting relationships and providing consistent, strengths‑based guidance. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include planning and delivering structured activities linked to agriculture, rural skills, and personal development, as well as supervising and motivating young people during practical tasks. The role involves working closely with colleagues, families, schools, and external agencies to monitor progress, respond to emerging needs, and ensure safeguarding standards are met at all times. The mentor will also keep accurate records, contribute to support plans and reviews, and help create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where young people can build confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging. Qualifications * Demonstrated experience in Youth Mentoring and Youth Work, preferably in outdoor, educational, or community‑based settings. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with young people, families, and colleagues, and to manage challenging situations calmly and respectfully. * Understanding of youth development principles, including trauma‑informed and strengths‑based approaches. * Experience or strong interest in agriculture, outdoor learning, or vocational training environments. * Commitment to inclusive, non‑judgmental practice and the ability to support young people from diverse backgrounds. * Ability to work on‑site in Sherborne, including active participation in outdoor, seasonal, and practical farm‑related activities. * Relevant qualification in youth work, education, social care, or a related field (or equivalent experience). * Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and risk assessment in work with children and young people. #J-18808-Ljbffr
