Job Description:
Our client is an independently owned business providing high-quality packaging solutions to the UK Food & Drinks industry. A position has arisen for a Central / Midlands / South based Key Account Manager with a proven track record in the premium drinks or premium foods sector.
The role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with customers by understanding their needs and serving them effectively. The Key Account Manager will work collaboratively with colleagues to develop strategic growth plans, focusing on customer and market trends, to protect and serve customer brands.
The candidate will be responsible for achieving and exceeding sales and retention targets across Food, Beers, Wine, and Spirits sectors. The role offers high autonomy in managing the customer base, with visits to customers and company offices, and occasional visits to supply chain partners in Europe. A valid driving license is required.
Responsibilities:
- Gather and share market intelligence; develop commercial plans for growth within the assigned territory and sectors.
- Identify and prioritize customers for growth; develop plans to meet volume, value, and margin goals.
- Manage, analyze, and report on pricing, margins, and P&L for the sectors.
- Forecast by sector and customer; communicate with planning colleagues.
- Maintain regular contact with customers through various communication channels and complete visit reports.
- Understand existing and future product requirements to support growth.
- Understand customer needs for standard or bespoke products.
- Communicate pricing and lead-times to aid customer decision-making.
- Understand customer development plans to ensure supply continuity and win new business.
- Stay informed about market changes and introduce new entrants to clients.
- Provide technical and commercial support on products.
- Represent the company at trade shows and industry events.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
- Excellent collaborative skills.
- Commercial awareness and strategic understanding.
- Knowledge of FMCG manufacturing, especially food, drink, and packaging sectors, including packaging materials, GMP, bottling technologies, QA & systems, ISO standards, and food safety legislation.
- Understanding of product development processes and lead times.
- Numerically literate.
- Strong communication, presentation, analytical, negotiation, and project management skills.
- Proficient with Office suite and other relevant software.
