Our client is an independent manufacturer of bespoke cardboard tubes and cores producing millions of tubes annually, ranging from small diameters to large custom sizes, serving a wide range of sectors from industrial packaging, postal tubes, display/film props and carpet cores. They are seeking a hands-on, reliable team member reporting to the Senior Production Supervisor in a busy cardboard and paper goods manufacturing environment. This role suits someone with engineering knowledge, strong problem-solving skills and the willingness to get stuck in wherever issues arise on the production floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Senior Production Supervisor in daily production operations
- Assist with basic machine maintenance, adjustments, and set-up
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and process-related issues
- Help maintain production flow and output targets
- Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process
- Carry out quality checks to ensure products meet specifications and customer standards
- Identify defects, investigate root causes, and assist with corrective actions
- Support training and guidance of Machine Operators where required
- Ensure Health & Safety procedures and housekeeping standards are followed
- Record and report quality concerns, downtime, and improvements
Required Skills & Qualities:
- Engineering knowledge with strong mechanical aptitude
- Confident using hand tools and basic workshop equipment
- Ability to follow technical instructions and drawings
- Willingness to learn production machinery and processes
- Proactive and hands-on approach to problem solving
- Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding quality control
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment

- Experience using welding equipment
- Experience operating lathes or other machining equipment
