Our client is a highly respected and financially stable manufacturer specialising in bespoke injection moulding, blow moulding and assembly of plastic packaging and components. Serving a wide range of consumer markets, they are known for delivering tailored solutions rather than off-the-shelf products, and for building long-term partnerships with their customers.
As a privately owned business with no shareholder or investor pressure, they focus on sustainable growth, long-term careers and employee loyalty, with many staff having 15+ years' service. They are now seeking a Senior Business Development Manager with a proven track record of closing high-value, technically led business development deals.
Role Overview: This is a senior, pure new business role focused on winning bespoke projects across injection moulded, blow moulded and assembled packaging solutions. You will be responsible for selling the company's technical capability and manufacturing expertise, rather than a catalogue of products. You will have autonomy over your territory and pipeline, with the opportunity to retain and develop key accounts once established, while smaller accounts are supported internally. New Product Development (NPD) experience is highly desirable, as many projects will involve customer-led innovation and tailored design solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Win new business across bespoke injection moulded, blow moulded and assembled packaging solutions
- Sell technical capability and manufacturing expertise rather than standard products
- Identify, qualify and convert complex opportunities into long-term customers
- Work closely with internal technical and production teams to develop customer solutions
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through to commercial close
- Build senior-level relationships with customers across multiple consumer markets
- Provide structured reporting on pipeline, activity and project progress
What You'll Bring:
- Proven track record of closing business development deals in packaging or engineered plastic products
- Strong understanding of bespoke manufacturing environments
- Ability to sell on capability, quality and solution design, not just price
- Experience with injection moulding, blow moulding or complex plastic components preferred
- NPD or project-led sales experience highly advantageous
- Commercial maturity and confidence at senior customer level
- Self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously
Why Join This Business?
- Senior-Level Role: Targeted at experienced BDMs with a strong closing track record
- Bespoke Manufacturing: Sell solutions, not commodities
- Commercial Freedom: No investor pressure or short-term thinking
- Career Stability: Long service culture and strong internal loyalty
- Flexible Working: Home-based role with national remit and occasional site visits
- Supportive Leadership: Realistic targets and recognition of both pipeline growth and wins
