Commutable from Bedfordshire / Hertfordshire / Cambridgeshire / Buckinghamshire / Northamptonshire

Hourly Rate: £20 per hour + 25% Shift Premium (£25 per hour) + Overtime Available + Pension

Working Hours - 38hrs - 4 Shifts per week: Monday to Wednesday - 4pm till 3am, Thursday - 4pm till 9pm

Our client is a privately owned, well-established and profitable manufacturer of printed folded cartons for the food sector. They are currently looking for a Cut & Crease Machine Minder to join their production department, working on a Night Shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proven recent and significant experience of setting up and running blanking
  • Proven ability to train and mentor other minders
  • Able to demonstrate potential to act as Lead / Supervisor, or previous supervisory / lead experience
  • Ensure the quality of cut and creased work and compliance with the company ISO 9001:2015, OHSAS18001, ISO14001, BRC and any other standards and operating procedures which become applicable to the company in the future
  • Obtain the best possible production levels at all times
  • Vary overtime working hours to optimise production
  • Ensure that the relevant cutting and creasing machine is maintained, kept clean and efficiently run
  • Liaise regularly with the Production Manager and planner to ensure the most efficient production within the overall production plan
  • Ensure that the machine is fully operational at all times
  • Make every effort to restart production when the machine is not operational
  • Work with the Production Manager, assist in training other operatives, and/or machine assistants, to provide adequate cover and make a bigger contribution on the machine
  • In liaison with the Production Manager, become experienced on the other cutting and creasing machines to provide adequate cover as and when required
  • Liaising with the Chief Engineer with regard to breakdown and planned maintenance
  • For unprinted work, liaise with the Board Warehouseman with regard to the availability and priority of board
  • Achieve agreed targets for waste levels
  • Ensure the Production Manager, or delegate, is kept fully informed
  • Achieve weekly and monthly agreed production targets
  • Minimal numbers of customer complaints and rejections because of wrong or bad cutting and creasing

Requirements:

  • Recent, relevant and proven machine minder experience, specifically in Bobst 102 or 142 Flatbed die cutting
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions
  • Work well under pressure whilst looking for continual improvements
  • Meet physical demands of the post with frequent lifting of light & moderately heavy items
  • Ability to work well within a small team with good listening and communication skills
