Future’s Technology department has been instrumental in the company’s success over recent years and is vital to Future’s continued growth and disruption of the digital publishing industry. As part of the strategy around Go.Compare’s acquisition by Future, we’re re-platforming our domain around an API first, cloud based serverless architecture to become the PCW leading service. This is part of our plan to broaden the scope from the Go.Compare brand.
As a Senior QA Automation Engineer you’ll work closely with the QA Lead to help improve and deliver the Test Strategy. Within your Squad, you’ll help to drive our efforts to build up robust automation test frameworks and quality gate criteria to support our replatform of our service. You will help to guide on best practice and approach, identify defects and work alongside the Software Engineers whilst they are writing solutions, to ensure that our automated testing solution is kept up to date, in real time with the coding efforts of the Engineering team, as well as to help identify and deliver the required test coverage across the platform.
The responsibility of Quality will be owned by the whole Squad but you will define and agree Engineering Quality Gates and ensure Software Engineers are building in quality at the earliest possible stage (shift left). You will act as principal gate-keeper for Quality Assurance throughout the environmental promotion of releases primarily within your Squad, but may be asked to support a wider scope.
Experience that will put you ahead of the curve:
- You have extensive & proven solid experience using one or more of Playwright, Protractor, Cypress, WebDriver.io and/or JavaScript/TypeScript testing frameworks and be able to build and structure automated tests and their supporting frameworks from the ground up.
- You understand what good looks like, can build out supporting approaches and can effectively communicate these to members of Engineering.
- You understand and be able to identify Acceptance Criteria with Product Owners and teams and must be able to elicit test conditions, scenarios and supporting test data from these ACs.
- You hold ISTQB Software Testing Foundation or equivalent certification.
- You have a solid understanding and experience of functional and non-functional testing approaches.
- You are confident in testing APIs, have experience of Postman or an equivalent toolset and can build supporting automated test suites.
- You are able to collaborate with Squad Leads to align best practices & QA automation practices and can communicate effectively on these with both technical and non-technical people.
- You have experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery and DevOps tools and DevOps best practices and how QA plays its part.
- You have experience with basic development tools like Git and Azure DevOps.
- You are able to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical people as needed.
- You have experience writing basic SQL queries.
- You will have a drive to continuously improve quality through ‘shift left’ practices within your Squad & QA automation practices.
- You have experience with SalesForce, especially around batch driven processes.
