What you'll be doing
The Head of Digital (maternity cover) is responsible for leading the digital strategy to maximise audience growth and accelerate commercial success. You will report to the Managing Director and oversee all digital content, blending instinctive market knowledge with a first-class SEO pedigree to build rankings performance and embed these processes across the team. A primary focus of this role is managing the balance between high-reach, pre-paywall content and exclusive, post-paywall content designed to drive Decanter Premium subscriptions. By blending digital expertise with a passion for high-converting content, the individual will ensure Decanter remains the authoritative voice for global wine enthusiasts, aligning with a data-driven approach to specialist media.
Experience that will put you ahead of the curve
- 7-10 years in digital media/publishing with a proven track record in subscription-based models (ideally in lifestyle, consumer, or specialist media sectors like food/wine, travel, or luxury goods).
- Experience driving digital growth, such as increasing subscriber bases by 20%+ through content strategies or campaigns.
- Prior leadership experience in an overseer or managerial capacity, managing cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with the wine industry or enthusiast communities is advantageous but not essential.
- A passion for premium content and user-centric digital experiences.
