Role Description
This is a full‑time, on‑site Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Specialist role based in Durham. The EHS Specialist will develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and programs that align with regulatory requirements and Group standards. Daily responsibilities include conducting workplace risk assessments, safety inspections, and incident investigations, and recommending corrective and preventive actions. The role involves delivering safety training and awareness programs, supporting occupational health initiatives, and collaborating with leaders and colleagues to build a strong safety culture. The EHS Specialist will also prepare reports, track key EHS metrics, and support continuous improvement projects to enhance environmental and safety performance across the site.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Health & Safety and Workplace Safety, with experience applying relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs and Occupational Health principles, including risk assessment and control measures.
- Experience designing and delivering Safety Training, toolbox talks, and safety communications to diverse audiences.
- Ability to analyze EHS data, prepare clear reports, and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Relevant professional qualification or certification in EHS, Occupational Health, or a related discipline (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively with operational teams and leadership.
- Proven ability to work methodically, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to a changing regulatory and business environment.
- Experience in financial services, corporate environments, or complex multi-site organizations is an advantage.
