Track Design Engineer - Track Engineering in Stratford-upon-Avon

Grade and Contract Band 3. Permanent / Full Time / Hybrid. Location: Stratford (with various onsite visits required). Salary Circa £58,900 (dependent on skill, knowledge and experience).

Hybrid Working arrangements enable a balance of 50% of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.

Day-to-day, you will be part of the Track Engineering Team delivering work packages and technical solutions that ensure a safe and reliable experience for our customers.

Using previous experience of delivering track engineering to a maintenance organisation, you will make a significant contribution to the efficient maintenance and effective configuration of track across the TfL estate, particularly on London Underground. You will be experienced in track design and capable of producing detailed designs for all track renewal and upgrading works to ensure that technical, safety, quality and financial requirements of TfL are achieved. You will be expected to have design experience using design software, to engage in multidisciplinary projects, and to manage your own design programme as well as support others in the team. It’s important you bring a passion for the TfL Vision and strategy too, as you build your career and expertise across a unique range of projects.

Skills:

• Ability to communicate, motivate and influence effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation and outside, including negotiating and successfully facilitating joint decision-making.
• Able to apply and explain engineering principles to resolve issues, progress developments and deal with technical documentation and approvals.
• Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and deliver service to meet these expectations, managing conflicting priorities to achieve tight deadlines.
• Proven ability to coordinate engineering activities to deliver assured engineering solutions.

Knowledge:

• Engineering degree or demonstration of suitable equivalent experience, ideally through chartered status with a suitable engineering body.
• Experience in track design and project delivery.
• Understanding of interfaces within the Permanent Way, and with other asset areas.
• Appreciation of the wider railway industry.

Experience:

• Be experienced in track design, capable of producing design packages for all track renewal and upgrading works at various project stage gates, ensuring technical, safety, quality and financial requirements of TfL are achieved.
• Have design experience using Bentley Microstation Track Design software, engage in multidisciplinary projects and manage design programmes as well as support others in the team.
• Experience with gauging software such as ClearRoute and DGauge.
• Implementing a high level of innovation in technical issues, problem solving and the culture of the team.
• Being familiar with, and compliant with, relevant CDM and Health & Safety regulations.
