As a RAM Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our systems are reliable, available, and maintainable—supporting millions of journeys every day. What You’ll Be Doing
- Drive Performance: Lead RAM activities across the full asset lifecycle—from early project scoping to service introduction and continuous improvement.
- Shape Strategy: Develop and implement RAM procedures, tools, and plans that support engineering excellence and programme delivery.
- Deliver Insight: Set and manage RAM targets, conduct detailed analysis, and produce high‑quality reports that inform critical decisions.
- Collaborate & Influence: Work closely with stakeholders, suppliers, and project teams to embed RAM thinking into everything we do.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex technical insights into practical, actionable outcomes.
- Confident in leading FRACAS (Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action Systems) and applying data‑driven approaches to improve system performance.
- Can balance cost versus performance in reliability planning and decision‑making.
- Able to translate complex RAM concepts into clear, actionable insights for non‑technical stakeholders.
Knowledge
- Good understanding of the EN 5012x standards and familiarity with RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) frameworks used across the business.
- Knowledge of theoretical and practical data analysis techniques to support RAM performance development.
- Understanding of RAM requirements in contracts and how to assess supplier RAM deliverables.
- Knowledge of whole‑life cost analysis and trade‑offs between reliability investment and operational cost.
Experience
- Proven experience in conducting Root Cause Analysis and implementing reliability growth strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to set and manage RAM targets, and to work collaboratively with stakeholders and suppliers to meet operational and business objectives.
- Experience facilitating RAM workshops and technical reviews, ensuring alignment between engineering requirements and operational needs.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and build consensus across multidisciplinary teams to support programme delivery.
- Degree in a STEM subject or equivalent qualification.
- Familiarity with HTML, JSON data structures, and/or Microsoft Power Platform.
- Experience in data analysis.
- Knowledge of AI and Machine Learning principles.
