Job Role
Reporting to a DLO Team Leader - Fire and is responsible for ensuring that fire asset upgrade projects are designed, installed, commissioned and maintained, to all relevant TFL and British Standards, and then delivered into service in a safe and timely manner. The job holder must be committed to LUL’s General Safety Policy statement and the Company’s safety program and be aware of their contribution to the program, including the requirement to monitor safety performance and compliance with the systems established to assist in maintaining high safety standards. The job holder must be familiar with the safety legislation that is relevant to them and comply with the necessary statutory requirements. These will include the Health & Safety at Work Act, Fire Precautions Act 1971 and other associated regulations.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage a team tasked with design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of fire detection & alarm systems across TFL infrastructure.
- Ensure all installations comply with TFL standards, BS 5839 pt1, BS 7671, and other relevant regulations.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, site supervisors, and TFL stakeholders.
- Follow site-specific safety procedures and Permit to Work systems.
- Complete installation documentation including test sheets and commissioning records.
- Participate in site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good working order.
- Support commissioning and handover activities as required.

Knowledge
- Successfully completed a registered apprenticeship including all knowledge and performance assessments, of the Level 3 NVQ in Electro technical Services (Electrical Installation Buildings & Structures).
- Level 3 NVQ diploma in Installing Electro technical systems and equipment (buildings, structures and the environment) or Level 3 Electro technical Qualification (Installation) Apprenticeship Standard (C&G 236 Parts 1& 2 or approved equivalent), plus the industry assessment of occupational competence (the AM2) OR have completed the JIB Mature Candidate Assessment including the AM2.
- Both the Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations and the Level 3 Award in the Periodic, Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations (C&G 2391 or equivalent).
- BS 7671 18th Edition Regulations (or equivalent) and Full UK driving license.
Experience
- Extensive experience in electrical installation, preferably including fire detection & alarm systems.
- Proven industry experience and demonstrated competency of electrical systems installations (preferably including fire systems), within the LU environment.
- Proven track record of managing small installation tasks in a SPC role.
- Proven industry experience and demonstrated competency working as an Electrician after the satisfactory completion of training and immediately prior to the application for this grade.
- Must have demonstrated competence in Inspection and Testing.
