Overview of role
The role holder will be responsible for supporting SPE in making best use of its 600 operational resources and those of our policing partners. Working closely with the performance manager, the role holder will support SPE to become a problem solving, intelligence-led and evidence-based directorate. This will be achieved by developing, researching, analysing and interpreting information to provide high quality analysis and research to support and influence the priorities and deployment of police and other uniformed resources. You will be part of a small performance team whose core responsibility is to understand how the directorate is performing and reviewing the effectiveness of our response to these issues.
Key Accountabilities
- Analyse data and intelligence to support SPE priorities and decision‑making
- Identify opportunities to collaborate with MPS, BTP and CoLP
- Share information with partners and keep stakeholders updated
- Identify risks, threats, and vulnerable groups to inform strategy
- Monitor and evaluate SPE and partner performance
- Present clear analytical insights to support decisions
- Ensure data accuracy and assess source reliability
- Provide analytical guidance to colleagues and stakeholders
- Manage and share information in line with protocols and policies
- Deliver analytical work, prioritising competing demands
- Manage multiple projects and adapt to operational needs
- Contribute to monthly scorecard reporting processes
- Respond to requests for information, including those under the freedom of information act, often with a short turn‑around.

Knowledge
- Knowledge of best practice in trend analysis, evaluation and performance insight (essential)
- Knowledge of legislation such as Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act, Police Act and GLA Act, and how they impact on the public sector (desirable)
- Awareness and understanding of the major issues affecting the provision of surface transport services in London.
- Understanding of Surface Transport’s organisation, culture and structure as well as TfL processes (desirable)
- Know the different research and analytical techniques and methods required to support the Strategic, Tactical and Operational activities of the Directorate.
- Know how data, intelligence and information can be used to measure performance, provide insight on emerging issues and prioritise resource allocation
- Know how to access, or pro‑actively seek, data on all aspects of the directorates strategic priorities (essential)
