Overview of Role
Transport for London (TfL) is looking for an experienced Systems Performance Engineer to join our Systems Performance & Integration team to help shape the future of TfL’s assets and infrastructure across a diverse portfolio of projects and modes of transportation. You will have the ability to analyse and visualise complex data, draw conclusions and produce reports. You can interpret railway signalling and/or layout and/or infrastructure scheme design and process and analyse data. You will be able to undertake systems modelling and use specialised system modelling & simulation tools in both Windows and Linux/Unix-based operating environment.
You will provide the expertise, support, and guidance to projects to ensure performance and capacity issues are identified and resolved through modelling and analysis. You will play a key role in reducing costs by optimising capital investment, scope, asset utilisation, system design, Journey Time and energy consumption and enhancing system capacity and reliability by identifying and developing solutions to mitigate system constraints and points of failure. This role also involves building stakeholder confidence by continuing to verify and validate system designs and integrate the railway sub-systems to enable the desired performance outcome and improving sustainability by assessing and monitoring the customer environment to inform system technical solutions.
Working alongside our team of Engineers you will help to create a culture of continuous improvement through the identification of best practice, innovation, whole life cost optimisation and effective root cause analysis. As a highly motivated and adaptable engineer, you will have significant experience of applying your System Performance knowledge and skills across a project lifecycle: feasibility, concept, detailed design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance. You will be degree qualified (or equivalent) and hold domain knowledge that is relevant to TfL transportation modes. You will have the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels of the organisation, present ideas succinctly to both engineers and non-engineering stakeholders; and represent TfL’s interests with external parties.
