The problem we solve
Most corporate innovation fails because teams spend months (and millions) building things nobody wants. They guess. They assume. They plan in detail, and then reality arrives – the customer. At Future Foundry, we help large organisations test first, build later. We replace costly assumptions with lightweight, real-world experiments that reveal what customers actually want before our clients commit serious time and money.
We’ve spent the last five years developing a structured, repeatable approach to business experimentation. In that time, we’ve run +500 experiments and saved +£1 billion in misallocated investment for some of the largest global innovation teams. Working with the likes of Mars, Experian, HSBC, Microsoft, Salesforce, and Hilton to de-risk new propositions, get to market faster, and make evidence-backed investment decisions.
What We Do
- Innovation Strategy – Defining where and how corporate innovation teams can realise growth over the next 3–5 years, forming an investment thesis around a portfolio of new opportunities.
- Opportunity Validation – This is where the practical testing comes in. We design and deploy lightweight, behavioural experiments to validate the riskiest assumptions about new growth opportunities. The outcome is a clear, de-risked investment decision to accelerate, adapt, or withdraw.
- Pre-launch Test Roadmap – Once teams have decided to pilot an opportunity, we develop structured test plans that ensure they’re measuring the right things to make an informed decision on launch or roll-out.
- Capability Building – Designing the capability and operating model required to embed experimentation in large organisations – from hands-on experiment training and innovation leadership programmes to practical courses and workshops.
Requirements
We’re always on the lookout for great talent to help us deliver our projects on a freelance basis. Whether you have a few days or a few weeks available, we’d love to hear from you.
Roles We Typically Hire Across Three Types Of Roles
- Lead: 5–10 years of experience, including proven leadership of experimentation or innovation programmes. You’ll lead the design and execution of experimentation programmes for clients, manage small teams (2–3 people), and act as the primary client interface. You’re comfortable facilitating workshops with senior stakeholders, turning evidence into strategic recommendations, and taking ownership of complex projects end-to-end.
- Consultant: 3–7 years of experience in experimentation, user research, venture design, or corporate innovation. You’ll design and run experiments hands-on – from recruiting participants and conducting interviews to setting up ads and tracking data. You can facilitate workshops, synthesise findings into clear recommendations, and flex across research, analysis, and client management with comfort in ambiguity.
- Associate: 1–3 years of experience in user research, customer validation, or supporting innovation teams. You’ll support the execution of behavioural experiments, recruit and coordinate participants, conduct customer interviews, and track validation metrics. You’re highly organised, proactive, and comfortable documenting findings clearly while working collaboratively with senior consultants.
Across all our roles, we are looking for the following attributes:
- Hands-on experimentation experience – We’re not looking for "desk research" consultants; we need people who’ve run real-world tests with customers.
- A proactive, get-things-done mentality – We’re a lean, flat organisation where everyone rolls up their sleeves.
- Comfort with ambiguity – Experiments don’t always go to plan; you adapt quickly when they don’t.
- Collaborative mindset – You’re energised by working closely with clients and teammates, not operating solo.
- Strong communication skills – You can distil complex findings into clear, compelling insights (written and verbal).
- Right to work in Europe – We’re unfortunately not able to sponsor visas at this time.
Nice To Have
- Experience working in or with startups (you understand the "build-measure-learn" mentality).
- Familiarity with the industries we work in: retail, FMCG, healthcare, and financial services.
- Knowledge of design thinking, lean startup, jobs-to-be-done, or similar methodologies.
Benefits
- Flexibility – Work on projects that fit your schedule, whether that’s a few days or a few weeks.
- Impact – Be part of the innovation journey for top-tier corporate clients, helping them make multi-million-pound investment decisions with confidence.
- Learning – Work with a small, dedicated team of highly skilled practitioners; you’ll learn cutting-edge experimentation methodologies.
- Variety – Exposure to diverse industries and complex challenges (construction, financial services, healthcare, climate tech).
- Remote-first – Work from anywhere in Europe with occasional travel to client sites (UK/Europe/US, all expenses covered).
- Fair compensation – Day rates negotiated based on role, experience, and project scope.
