We are currently looking for an experienced Business Development Manager within Aerospace and Defence to join our team here at Future, UK. Job Outline:

The prime responsibility of the Business Development Manager (BDM) is to drive Future’s success within our A&D portfolio across EMEA. The role requires a deep understanding of the different technologies within A&D, acting as a subject matter expert in this space to accelerate growth. To be commercially astute with strong negotiation skills, developing and executing on a business plan for specific technologies, suppliers and customers, including sales growth programs through demand creation is fundamental. This in turn will require a comprehensive understanding of the direction and requirements of the EMEA organisation in order to drive profitable sales and demand creation growth.

The ability to understand the various supplier product offerings and how to position this both technically and commercially to accelerate the adoption of the newest and best technology available to the customer base through Future will be fundamental. Having a strong customer service ethic to support the sales combined with the capacity to provide commercial and technical assistance will enable a sustained business engagement strategy. The role is an active position with significant customer facing visits where in suppliers technologies can be clearly positioned across EMEA.

What the role involves:

  • Work with line manager on the development of defined and accurate budget and business plans for the dedicated region.
  • Drive Aerospace and Defence Activities within the dedicated customer base.
  • Develop, execute and measure strategic customer driven programs locally.
  • Support the local A&D Demand Creation (CRM) activity with technical resources available and review processes to help ensure that demand creation metrics are achieved.
  • To be the focal point for Interconnect & Emech products in the designated region.
  • Establish, develop and maintain successful relationships with suppliers.
  • Work with sales, marketing and technical community to ensure cohesive customer and supplier strategies.
  • Support the sales organisation with commercial and technical assistance as required.
  • Have a strong appreciation of the focus supplier’s needs and objectives strategically and tactically.
  • Fully understand each supplier’s product portfolio relevant to customer applications and position with the sales and technical teams.
  • Take responsibility for carrying out/facilitating appropriate training of marketing and technical team in region.
  • Actively embrace change, suggest and drive improvement where possible.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to ensure that the company/regions margin requirements are met via supplier negotiation.
  • Additional projects or duties as the management may at times require.

Do you have?

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Aerospace and Defence within electronic distribution industry.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills able to win the customer and supplier alike.
  • Strong, established relationships with military, defence, and space organizations.
  • Proven experience.
  • Ability to open doors at senior customer levels and influence technical and commercial decision-makers.
  • Willingness to travel across Eastern Europe as needed.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills in English (additional regional languages are a plus).
  • A self-starter; very focused on achieving the end result.
  • Has the ability to communicate technical issues relating to supplier product offerings.
  • Has a strong service ethic, highly organised, with strong negotiation and technical skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
