Exciting Opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel
To provide in-house legal advice and support on operational practices and procedures across multiple EMEA countries.
The role serves a diverse internal client base and requires clear communication of the company’s legal position to internal stakeholders and external customers/suppliers to minimize business risk.
Reporting to the Corporate VP – Legal & General Counsel (Americas and EMEA), the position works closely with a global legal team across Canada, EMEA, and Asia.
Responsibilities span commercial, employment, corporate, and other legal matters, requiring strong judgment, clarity in explaining complex issues, and sound decision-making.
What the role involves
- Draft, review and update agreements and appendices /supplemental agreements made with/by customers, including (but not limited to) MPA’s, Terms of Business, Bonded Inventory Managements agreements, Consignment Agreements and other business contracts identifying key risks such as warranties, indemnities, late deliveries, and liability limits.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on supplier agreements (e. g., distribution, purchase), focusing on warranty, IP infringement, indemnification, late delivery, and termination.
- Advise on liability and warranty terms for defective product/quality claims, working with Sales and Quality Assurance.
- Review, negotiate and advise on Non-Disclosure Agreements with customers, suppliers and third parties - make suggested changes whilst considering other sales terms and condition queries .
- Review, negotiate, and advise on new and renewal office lease agreements applicable within the EMEA region.
- Undertake the review of office lease agreements for various Future sites within the area of responsibility.
- Support Trade Compliance by understanding of the export and import control laws and regulation applicable for trading operations in the UK, EU , and US, ensuring that current processes are compliant with customs, duties, licensing, and trade regulations .
- Provide assistance on data protection / GDPR Compliance and privacy matters.
- Collaborate with the global legal counsels on internal processes and international issues.
- Provide support on additional matters as needed, including employment law, IP, insurance, and logistics.
- Additional projects or duties as management may at times require .
Do you have
- Qualified lawyer with a law degree or equivalent professional qualification having held post-qualification experience in a commercial legal role within private practice or in house for between seven to twelve years.
- Fluent in English both orally and in writing with working knowledge of a second language is an asset.
- Commercially astute, highly organised and initiative-taking able to focus on resolving issues efficiently.
- Focused on solving problems.
- Able to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities while maintaining responsiveness and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with the ability to build credibility and trust with both internal and external stakeholders
