The role of the Trainee Power BI/Excel Analyst is to support data visualization, reporting, and business insights across the organisation. This role is ideal for an analytics professional who is comfortable working with data, eager to learn, and enthusiastic about transforming raw information into clear, actionable dashboards that drive decision-making.

The trainee will collaborate closely with business analysts, cross-functional stakeholders, and technical teams to develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI reports and dashboards that support operational and strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include:

  • Generate, analyze, and present business and supplier reports to management to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports (including Power BI) to track business performance and key metrics.
  • Translate business requirements into practical reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Clean, transform, and validate data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability across reports.
  • Question and assess the credibility of data, investigate anomalies, and ensure reporting aligns with current business needs.
  • Create periodic and ad-hoc performance reports to evaluate business areas, initiatives, and promotions against defined benchmarks.
  • Monitor report performance and continuously optimize dashboards for usability and effectiveness.
  • Document reporting logic, data definitions, and processes to support governance and knowledge sharing.
  • Support other Business Analyst team members and provide coverage when required.

Ideally educated with a degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business, Finance or related field having a couple of years’ experience in data analysis / BI or equivalent experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel / Access, Power BI (DAX, Power Query) including the ability to write visual basic (VB) for the automation of reports. Must have a minimum of 2 years Power BI experience. Self-motivated with a desire to grow business and technical knowledge.
