We are currently working with a specialist subcontractor delivering high-quality roofing and cladding packages across the South East. They are now seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead their design function from project inception through to installation support. This is a hybrid role based out of Reading, ideal for someone with a strong background in the façades or building envelope sector, looking to take ownership of design management across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead the design process for roofing and cladding packages
  • Oversee a team of design technicians, CAD operatives, and external consultants
  • Interpret architectural and structural drawings to develop detailed design solutions
  • Ensure all designs comply with building regulations, fire safety, and client specifications
  • Produce and review detailed construction drawings, schedules, and material specifications
  • Coordinate design information with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Provide technical support to site teams and resolve design-related queries during installation
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in roofing and cladding design, ideally within façades or the wider building envelope sector
  • Strong technical knowledge of systems and materials
  • Proficient in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
  • Familiar with current Building Regulations, relevant standards, and fire performance criteria
